I’m going old skool! In fact so old I used to wear them to school! In my days it was called a penny
loafer and I had them in burgundy….which is actually on trend for this season!!! With tassels,
snaffles or plain they are the key shoe for winter. Colour? Well it depends what mood you’re
in….anything goes from classic blacks and browns to colourful and textured. But how did I come
round to a loafer?
In my days as a fashion director it was nothing but heels, the higher the better! But since having
Billy I’ve had to wave goodbye to glamour and say hello to practical. I hate the word practical it
makes me sound like a frump! So in my pursuit to still be glamorous I am always searching for a
sexy flat…whether a boot, trainer or shoe .it now has a list of demands….needs to look cool, it’s
needs to have style and most importantly be comfortable.
It was on my search that I discovered my new found love for the retro loafer! In fact the ones I
bought were M&S black and shiny with a sexy chain and wait for the best bit…..only £29.50!!! Now that’s an amazing find!
So why a loafer? Well they look classic but chic, they don’t date you can make them look cool with no socks or funky with! They work with the new cropped jeans but look great with skirts or dresses….they are effortless and whatever price you pay will be part of your wardrobe for many a season. I’ve now got my eye on a tweed pair at Russell and Bromley! So go on be a retro queen…..its time to loafer!
