Drawing The Line – By Ruby x

I love the ease of lip crayons and I am just as likely to use them on a shoot as I am on myself. A model said to me recently (with a hint of surprise) – “Oh, you’re actually using them!” –  as if they were strictly for every day use!  But they are so easy to use, so versatile and come in so many colours that they work just as well for professional make-up as they are for day-to-day use. What’s not to love? One of the best things about crayons is that you can use them to line lips, colour them in – and even daub them on cheeks for a matching lip and cheek look.  And you can literally apply them without a mirror – on the bus or in a cab – whenever you’re in a rush.  Shiseido were the first company to make chunky crayon lip colour, sadly now discontinued. But thankfully, companies like Clinique have resurrected lip crayons – I absolutely love the fact that you don’t even have to sharpen theirs – just twist up and go, and now their are lip crayons in every texture and colour under the sun, some twist up and others that need sharpening. I love them all!  Here are my top Lip Crayons: top left – Clarins Lip Crayon Balm Colour & Comfort, £18 <http://www.clarins.co.uk/lip-balm-crayon/C050303015.html?start=1&dwvar_C050303015_color=03%20tender%20coral> , is a great combination of lip conditioner and gorgeous colour ; top right – Sisley Phyto-Lip Twist, £29 <http://www.sisley-paris.com/en-GB/makeup/lips/lip-pencils/phyto-lip-twist.html> , look fabulous in your make-up bag; bottom left – Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Colour Balm, £17 <http://www.clinique.co.uk/product/12538/15520/Makeup/Chubby-Stick/Chubby-Stick-Moisturizing-Lip-Colour-Balm/index.tmpl?77tadunit=e96f9bf6&77tadvert=47567185140&77tkeyword=%2Bstick%20%2Blip%20%2Bbalm&77tentrytype=s&77tentry=chubby_Branding_100614&cm_mmc=google-_-search-_-generic-_-%2Bstick%20%2Blip%20%2Bbalm&gclid=CN7A3Ye9nL8CFUTItAodpS0A0w> , are the perfect mix of soothing balm and colour;  centre – Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain, £7.99 <http://www.boots.com/en/Revlon/Revlon-Lip-Stain/> , are great for long-lasting colour; bottom right – Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon, £7.99 <http://www.boots.com/en/Bourjois-Paris-Colour-Boost-Lip-Crayon_1359125/> , moisture and colour-in-one.
